1. Sidra Medical & Research Centre in Qatar
Qatar Foundation has committed $7.9 billion USD to Sidra Medical & Research Centre. OHL Construction and Contrack International were awarded the main construction contract in 2008. Construction is in progress and expected to be completed in early 2012. Keo International Consultants is managing construction, while Pelli Clarke Pelli is the design architect.
2. Cleveland Clinic Hospital in the United Arab Emirates
Cleveland Clinic has partnered with Mubadala Healthcare to develop and manage the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. The US $1.9 billion hospital development is scheduled to open in late 2012 and is being constructed by Aldar. Other companies involved with the project are Henningson, Durham & Richardson (HDR), Arabtec Construction, Aktor and Driver Consult.
3. Jaber Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah Hospital in Kuwait
Kuwait's Ministry of Public Works plans to build the US $1 billion Jaber Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah hospital. US Langdon Wilson carried out architectural, conceptual and engineering design works while Gulf Consult will be responsible for all detailed engineering and landscape design, cost control and tender documentation. Local Mohamad Abdulmohsin Kharafi & Sons is the earthwork contractor. The hospital is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014.
4. Al Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Hospital for Children in the United Arab Emirates
UAE vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, laid the foundation stone of this US $370 million hospital. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2011.
5. Al Khobar Hospital and Saud bin Jalwaei Hospital in Saudi Arabia
Both projects are commissioned by the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia. Al Kifah Construction Equipment Company was awarded the main construction contract for the US $55 million Al Khobar Hospital while Al Kifah Construction Equipment Company was awarded the main construction contract for the US $55 million Saud bin Jalwaei Hospital.
6. Danat Al Emarat Women & Children's Hospital in the United Arab Emirates
UEMedical began with the construction of the US$ 150 million Danat Al Emarat Hospital in September 2009. The hospital is expected to be completed in 2011. Al Ghurair Arabian Foundations Engineering was selected for the first phase of construction and the contracts for the second and final phases are still to be tendered. Singaporean healthcare operators Parkway Health will manage the facility.
