Hong Kong hospitals seek international accreditation
Five public hospitals and three private hospitals have begun a three-year pilot scheme, to obtain international accreditation that is expected to complete in 2011.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital is the first Hong Kong hospital to receive accreditation from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS). The EQuIP accreditation certificate is an international recognition, which recognizes the pursuit of safe and high quality healthcare services.
Towering over the landscape of Happy Valley, the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital is one of the most prestigious and internationally accredited private hospitals in Hong Kong. Founded as The Yeung Wo Nursing Home in 1922 with 28 beds, today the Hospital has over 400 beds and numerous specialty centres, offering diagnostic and therapeutic services in a comprehensive and one-stop fashion.
As embodied in its motto "Quality in Service Excellence in Care", it has always been, and will continue to be, the hospital's mission to strive for the best medical treatment and hospital care for patients with state-of-the-art equipment, pleasant environment, whole-person care and most importantly, highly trained staff.
