All the five hospitals of the Hamad Medical Corporation received full re-accreditation by the Joint Commission Intrenational (JCI). The re-accreditation, which has happened for the second time, will raise HMC

She said the accreditation was unprecedented, as no other healthcare organisation worldwide has had five hospitals-Hamad General Hospital, Women's Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, Rumailah Hospital and Al Khor Hospital- accredited simultaneously.
The accreditations, required every three years, took place between June and October of this year, starting with the Al Amal and Women's Hospitals, before proceeding onto the Hamad General Hospital, Rumailah Hospital and Al Khor Hospitals.
An additional triumph in the re-accreditation has been the formal recognition of the Home Health Care Services, the only hospital in the Middle East to achieve this in this particular field.
"This quality and safety accreditation is part of our pledge to our patients and the citizens of Qatar. It represents the evidence of our commitment to quality of care and continuous service improvement within HMC
She also emphasised the significant improvements in patient care, and paid special tribute to the medical, nursing and allied health staffs, who regularly undergo training to raise the standards of care provided.
The accreditation also supports many academic programmes with recognition from various academic institutions, making JCI accredited-institutions highly-sought after employment locations.
"Since 2006, when we attained our first JCI accreditation, we have continually upheld clinical quality to be ready for the re-accreditation. Intensive preparation work in the Corporation for the re-accreditation started on a serious note in June last year, when the JCI Consultants flagged the 9-pager standards document at a Clinical Committee Leadership and Group meeting." added Dr. Badriya Al Ali, executive Director of quality managment at HMC
